Welcome to the 2012 Season.....Opening Kick Off is Tuesday at 6:30pm

Hi everyone!

Well we are just days away from the 2012 KDTFL season.

We are excited to welcome I.T. Mechanical and Nissan as our new teams to the league.

House keeping items: You MUST either have the full amount of your league fee the first night of $1800.00 or $900.00 the first night and the rest is due by the beginning of the Week four. All cheques are payable to Kingston District Touch Football League (KDTFL)

We are playing at Queen's West Campus new turf field off of Johnson St and Sir John McDonald Blvd. When it comes to playing at the Queens field your team must clean up after themselves. The only type of cleats you CAN NOT wear are any cleats that have steel studs.

Games: We play every Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Games start sharp at 6:30pm and 7:45pm on Tuesday and on Wednesday's we play at 6:30, 7:45 and 9:00pm. All games need to start on time as the lights go out shortly after 10pm. The field costs are very expensive and every minute counts when it comes to getting in a full game.

All games are 15 min quarters with a minimum of a 5 minute half time. The 2nd and 4th quarter will have the 3min warning. Use time outs wisely...

Same rule applies as last year. Your team is allow to start with 5 people on the field but you are still allowed to pick up extra people to make 7 players from any team. If you play with these players and win your team only gets one point and the other team as gets a point. If your team uses these players to start the game until your others players arrive then your team still can win 2 points for your team. You CAN NOT pick up a QB for the purpose of throwing for your team. You can pick a QB up to play on your team if you wish.

The play-off format will be on the website very soon and banquet details will be finalized soon but the date will be the evening of the KDTFL league final tournament on August 18th at Jakk Tuesday's.

We will be keeping complete stats again this year. Akaal will once again be our statistician this year. If he is unable to make a game his father Noopi or myself will keep the stats. With saying this your team is required to have numbers on all shirts during your game. If your jersey number is different from the one on your team's official roster you must let the stats person know this prior to the start of the game.

All stats will be updated on our website the same night most often. There be the odd time when they will be updated the following morning. (www.kdtfl.ca)

So when it comes to sponsorship most teams have a sponsor. This year we are please to announce that the league will be partnering with The Pilot House, Iron Duke and Jakk Tuesday's for a receipt program. Every time your team spends money on food or drinks at any of these establishments during the season the league and your team will all benefit from your spending after games but also anytime during the week. All you need to do as a team is keep your receipts and hand them in to our statistician Akaal at the beginning of Week 5, Week 10 and Week 16. Those teams who already are sponsored by these sponsors will continue to receive whatever deal you have made with them. The hardest thing will be to remember to keep your receipts but also remember get your family and friends to keep their receipts for your team.

We are also working on a few other fund raisers for our league which include the following: A road trip to Buffalo in September which would include round trip busing, ticket to game, hotel in Niagara Falls, tailgate party food and all the drinks you can drink. We are planning a fundraiser during the June 23,24 TFONT tournament we host in Kingston. We will have a Tent at Jakk's the entire weekend with a BBQ that all proceeds go towards our league with a kickback program during the weekend. A golf tournament will be organized with our sponsors in late July. We also can organize a road trip to the Canadian Men's soccer game verse the USA Men's team on Sunday, June 3rd. If you think you or friends would be interested in this please let me know. The cost would be $100 for your ticket, lots of drinks for adults, lunch and coach bus to BMO field in Toronto. This event is the 100th anniversary of Canadian Soccer.

There is probably more to come but please remember a couple of things; enjoy the season, respect your fellow teammates and without the referees it's very hard to have a league so please respect the job they are doing as you are not out there doing it. If you have any concerns about referees please email me asap so we can look into the complaint.
